TopDog is loaded with lots of great tips to save you time and help you position your web site.
You can quickly submit your site to any search engine by right-clicking on it and selecting Open Add URL Page or Auto Submit.
You don't have to wait for a search to complete before viewing results. Just double-click on any search engine to immediately view a Detail Report.

Many search engines treat frames as separate links, which may cause problems when indexing your page. Use the <NOFRAMES> tag in your main page to include text, keywords, and phrases.

TopDog uses syntax highlighting (color highlighting) to indicate position movement of your web site in the search engines.

You can turn automatic submission to the search engines on and off. Choose Project | Properties... and select the Submit Rules tab.
TopDog attempts to verify the set of keywords you entered before searching to make sure you get back accurate results.
You need to customize the Submit Info for each project file when using the submit feature. Choose Project | Properties... and select the Submit Info tab.
TopDog does not submit to search engines that are disabled when auto submission is enabled.
When entering keywords, use a few specific keywords separated by spaces that describe your web site. Do not enter your meta tags from your home page!
Submit Rules allow you to customize how and when your web site gets re-submitted to the search engines.
That when using TopDog's automatic submission feature, you should modify your home page slightly before submitting again.
You can re-submit to any search engine individually by selecting it and choosing Submit | Submit Selected from the main menu.
That if you have good placement on a search engine, you should probably avoid re-submitting to that search engine.
More and more search engines are starting to ignore the meta tags sections in favor of page content.
Many search engines ignore common words when indexing a page. (e.g., web, and, the, etc...)
When selecting keywords for your meta tags, use the plural form of most of your words (e.g., "positions" will be matched with either "position" or "positions".)
If your web page's background is white, but you overlay the page with a graphic and display white text on top of the graphic, some search engines consider this as spam.
You can now hide search engines that are disabled from the search engine view. Click Select on the toolbar and check "Only show enabled...".
You can force a submission of all the enabled search engines at once. Choose Submit | Submit All from the main menu. (Don't forget to fill in Submit Info!)
When entering an output directory for reports, TopDog will create the directory for you if it doesn't exist.
To quickly see the submission results for a single search engine, hold down the Control key while double-clicking on it.
TopDog supports multiple keyword sets in a single project. Just click on the "..." box to the right of the Keywords field to add more sets.
Control-T can be used to advance the display through the different keyword sets.
What's This? help is available from most dialogs in TopDog. Give it a try!
